Celebrating Aunt Ruth on Her 90th Birthday!

Mike, Isaac and I traveled to Fayetteville this past weekend to celebrate my great-aunt Mary Ruth's 90th birthday. We had fun catching up with family I generally only see on Facebook and celebrating the woman who has touched each of our lives in amazing ways. Mike and Isaac got to meet many people for the first time and I was so happy to show them off to my extended family. :)

Here are some before pictures from the party and some at the party!

Month Five Pictures & New Doings

As mentioned in my last post, Isaac has developmentally advanced even more in his fifth month. We've seen him discover his toes this month, follow moving objects with his head and eyes (he was doing this a little bit before, but now it's like an adult would), clutch and scrape at things with his hands, and pass objects between his hands (successfully). He's also been making some funny faces and noises: smacking his lips after eating is not uncommon, sticking his tongue out while smiling big and starting to squeal and make other noises that indicate he may be noticing his own voice.

As you will see in his "official" pictures, he's also become interested in anything placed in front or beside him. He was VERY interested in the chalk board and in other pictures, where he was looking at the ground, he was following Charlotte with his eyes and head.

"Oooh! Something to play with!"
"I see a kitty!!"
"Oooh! There's still something to play with!"

"It would look better next to the kitty."

"Where's that kitty?"
"Kitty??"
"Mom. Seriously, I need to pet that kitty."

Some Updates!

I can hardly believe that our precious boy is five months old already. God has exceeded my prayers for this child and I am amazed every day by how good He is.

Isaac is consistently sleeping through the night and I attribute that to many prayers- even ones sent up before he was born! I tell people that I prayed for my baby to be healthy, a snuggler (cuz his dad is definitely not one naturally) and a sleeper (cuz I am a woman who needs sleep to function like a human). God gave me these blessings and so many more. Isaac is an easy going child, has a happy disposition, is content in others' arms and is SO smiley! What is it about a smiley baby that makes your heart smile and lifts your spirits?

We had a fun month of traveling and meeting "new to him" friends. Here are a few of our pictures from our travels to DC:

We also celebrated some birthdays this month! We celebrated my grandma's, father-in-law's and brother-in-law's birthdays.

Isaac went to church for the first time this month. We are attending Calvary again after taking some time away to attend a church in Greensboro that we both liked. However, we decided to go back to Calvary since we know so many people there and are familiar with the childcare workers and program that Calvary offers. That means there are some happy grandparents, relatives and friends who are thrilled to see Isaac when he's there. Here are some pictures from his first visit:

Isaac discovered his toes this month, started smacking and scraping at things with his hands, follows objects (and pets) better with his eyes, and is starting to discover his voice and what he can do with it (squeals, anyone?). He loves his crib mobile and music. Here are some general pictures of our (generally) sweet boy:
